Last night, ABC premiered the Disney Family Singalong Special, and it was so wholesome.
Celebrities came together like one big family, for a night of singing, dancing, and all around entertainment.
The show started off with Ryan Seacrest presenting Derek Hough, as he sang “Be Our Guest” from Disney’s Beauty and The Beast. Julianne Hough also made a guest star appearance.
Auli’i Cravalho also made an appearance to perform the Disney hit song, “How Far I’ll Go” from the 2016 animated film, Moana.
Other artists, such as Little Big Town, Glee’s own Amber Riley, and country superstar, Josh Groban made cameos to perform some classic Disney songs.
Beyoncé graced our presence with a beautiful rendition of “When You Wish Upon A Star”, and it sent chills down my spine. She never fails to impress. Beyoncé has been a part of the Disney family, ever since the release of “The Lion King: The Gift”. Queen B recorded 28 songs for the 2019 remake of Disney’s The Lion King.
Aladdin was redefined when a handful of talented Broadway stars took the reigns and performed “Friend Like Me”.
After that, it was time for Ariana Grande to perform “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” from the classic Disney film, Hercules. Grande has incredible vocals, but wow. She truly did this song justice. Between the runs, the harmonies, and the soft tone of her voice, the rendition was absolutely beautiful.
Christina Aguilera blew viewers away, when she sang The Lion King’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.” Aguilera’s strong vocal control and emotional tone is so hypnotizing. You can’t help but to sit and listen to her soothing vocals.
If you’ve ever watched Pocahontas, then you know “Colors of the Wind”. While the original was beautiful and smooth, Tori Kelly’s live vocals didn’t disappoint. Much like Aguilera, the control in her voice, and the range that she possesses, is out of this world.
Afterwards, the reunion that fans have been aching for had finally arrived. Zac Efron (Troy Bolton) introduced his friends: Kenny Ortega, and the original cast of High School Musical.
Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Monique Coleman started off by singing the beginning to High School Musical’s hit track, “We’re All In This Together”.
It started off with a soft ballad, as Grabeel played the piano, and it was both emotional and nostalgic to see the cast unite for such an incredible event.
Later, the cast was accompanied by some special Disney Channel guests.
Members from the Descendants trilogy, High School Musical the Musical: The Series, and Raven Symone from The Cheetah Girls/That’s So Raven all joined in to sing the rest of the song. Even popular TikToker, Charli D’amelio, made a short cameo to show off her High School Musical dance moves.
This Disney special was televised to raise money for Feeding America – “the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger”.
