Two days ago, the cast of the hit Nickelodeon show, “Zoey 101”, reunited via Zoom for an interview with Access Hollywood.
The Zoom call consisted of: Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey Brooks), Paul Butcher (Dustin Brooks), Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Matt Underwood (Logan Reese), Christopher Massey (Michael Barret), Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews), and Kristin Herrera (Dana Cruz).
During the interview, the host (Lauren Herbert), asked the cast if they would be interested in doing a future “Zoey 101” revival series. They all agreed that they would participate in a reboot. However, the main question was how the new show would begin.
Spears began by stating that during their initial reunion late last year, the chemistry between the cast was still very prominent.
Then, they dove into their thoughts on what a reboot would look like. Butcher brought up the fact that Zoey was always saving her little brother, Dustin, from trouble. So, he believes that a reboot should include Dustin living with Zoey.
When asked about the Chase Matthews and Zoey Brooks storyline, Flynn admitted that although he doesn’t know if the two would end up together from the start of the reboot, he can’t deny the chemistry between Brooks and Matthews.
Flynn also brought up the 2015 time capsule skit that was uploaded onto Dan Schneider’s YouTube channel, in which Michael approached Chase, as he was proposing to his girlfriend. Michael told Chase that he had opened the time capsule, and wrote down everything that Zoey had said, from the 15th episode of “Zoey 101”.
Zoey had admitted that she thought of Chase as her “soulmate”, and the skit ended with Chase ditching his girlfriend to go find Zoey.
Spears followed up Flynn’s comment by confirming that “the story is not unfinished”, between Chase and Zoey.
Herbert then asked Underwood and Sanders what they thought about Logan and Quinn’s storyline. The original series ended with Logan and Quinn coming forward as a couple, after keeping their relationship a secret for months.
Sanders admitted that she doesn’t think their relationship would have endured all of the ups and downs, but that they would have remained friends.
Underwood, however, had a different opinion as to how their story would unfold.
“Quinn is in film production, and does investment opportunities for Logan, and Logan takes all the credit for this, and she is perfectly happy to take all of the money that he delivers to her, but – they’re definitely still together, and Logan definitely uses her.”
Well, Sanders did not agree with that plot line, and she even suggested that Quinn and Dana would most likely be dating in the reboot (to which Herrera agreed).
They ended the interview by discussing their upcoming appearance on the new version of Nickelodeon’s “All That”.
We can only hope that there will be a future Zoey 101 reboot. However, you can still catch the “Zoey 101” cast reunion tonight, on a brand new episode of “All That”, premiering at 9 PM.
