15 years ago today, “Hannah Montana” premiered on the Disney Channel. It feels like just yesterday, Lily Truscott fangirled over Hannah Montana — who, through their friendship bracelet on “Hannah’s” wrist, found out it was Miley Stewart.
Since Hannah Montana ended, Miley has admitted numerous times that she no longer wanted to be associated with the Disney Channel show. So, she grew up, changed the style of her music, and disassociated from her former character of Hannah Montana/Miley Stewart.
In 2019, however, Miley spoiled fans by not only mentioning Hannah, but encompassing her and even singing the ICONIC theme song, “Best of Both Worlds”:
As if that wasn’t amazing enough, last year, Miley started her own podcast called, “Bright Minded”. The podcast was all about interviewing keynote speakers, friends, and healthcare professionals. Well, one of her podcast episodes featured none other than Miss Emily Osment. Osment played Lily Truscott in Hannah Montana, and the two were best friends.
Then, just when we thought that Miley may have forgotten about Hannah, she surprised us all. Cyrus took to social media platforms, and posted a heartfelt letter that she had written for her character, Hannah:
The letter essentially summarizes Miley’s time on set, the memories she’s made, and the family that she grew to love and know (Emily Osment, Mitchell Musso, Jason Earles and of course, her own father — Billy Ray Cyrus).
She then mentioned that Hannah will always be with her wherever she goes in life (an ode to “Wherever I Go” from Season 4 of “Hannah Montana Forever”).
Miley closed out the letter by thanking not only Hannah, but all of her friends, family, cast and crew members for making this journey possible for her.
According to Miley, “not a day goes by where I forget where I came from. A building in Burbank, California with a room full of people with the power to fulfill my destiny. They gave me you. The greatest gift a girl could ask for. I love you Hannah Montana”.
We’re not crying.. You are.
Although Mitchell Musso (Oliver Oken) and Emily Osment have yet to acknowledge the anniversary, Jason Earles (Jackson Stewart) posted a heartfelt video on Instagram — paying tribute to his work family, memories, and experiences on the show. If you look closely, you might even catch a glimpse of the “Rico” shirt that Earles wore frequently as Jackson Stewart.
